Ecotourism and Forest Resource Management in Nepal

The Himalaya landscape, together with the diversity of plant and animal species has attracted tourists from all over the world. Nepal`s economy is very much heavily dependent on these natural resources. Hence, using these resources sustainably is the most important factor in ensuring a sustainable economy for the present and future generation in Nepal. The aim of sustainable use is centered around forest aesthetic and biodiversity, which are the basis of tourism development in Himalaya. With this in mind we conduct an integrated research of social science, management science and natural science and develop statistical and mathematical model to evaluate the impact of tourism as well as other resource use on the local communities. Our proposed system provides useful information to support management decisions of ecotourism and other resources uses in Nepal.
