On March 12 and 13, 2024, an “International Internship Seminar was held by AgFReM Research Consortium” at the Institute of Statistical Mathematics. This Internship Seminar was sponsored and organized by AgFReM Research Consortium. A total of 17 participants from 12 different countries (Austria, Cambodia, Canada, Czech Republic, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Nepal, Portugal, and Vietnam) were represented at this year’s seminar. The meeting featured both lectures by statisticians, and presentations of research findings by forest research scientists. On the first day, there lectures from Dr. Murakami (ISM) on; Gradient boosting-based mobile GPS data analysis with R, and Dr. Surovy (Czech Univ. of Life Sci. Prague) on; using LiDAR sensor in iPhone for tree mensuration. There were also presentations from forest researchers from Canada, Portugal, Indonesia, and Cambodia. They shared their, findings, challenges, and experiences in conducting research. On the second day, forest researchers in Austria, Laos, Korea, Japan, Nepal also shared their findings, challenges, and experiences in conducting research.
