Workshop in Philippines on December 17 - 18, 2024
Visit to Benguet State University, Baguio, Philippines
From December 17 to 18, 2024, we visited Benguet State University (BSU) in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines, to discuss future workshops and joint research initiatives. BSU recently joined the AgFReM Research Consortium, and this visit aimed to strengthen collaboration. On the morning of December 17, we visited the Institute of Highland Farming Systems and Agroforestry within BSU’s Research and Extension sector, where we observed agroforestry systems integrating coffee and pine trees. Following this, we paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the President. In the afternoon, we met with representatives from the College of Forestry, including the Dean, Department Chairmen, and researchers from various centers within the Research and Extension sector. During this meeting, we exchanged greetings and discussed plans for collaborative workshops. On December 18, we conducted a hybrid seminar to present and discuss recent research topics, with a total of 106 participants (46 online and 60 onsite). Additionally, we introduced FORMATH, the academic journal of the FORMATH Research Society, and encouraged BSU researchers to submit their work. We sincerely appreciate Associate Professor Nova Doyog and her team at the College of Forestry, Benguet State University, for their dedicated efforts in planning and organizing the seminar.
