Online Workshop in Nepal on January 17-18, 2024

Applied Statistical Analysis using R Software for Forestry Studies 2024

On January 17 and 18, 2024, the workshop on " Applied Statistical Analysis with “R” Software for Forestry Studies 2024" was held online using Zoom meeting platform. This workshop was co-sponsored and organized by Risk Analysis Research Center, ISM, and the Institute of Forestry (IOF), Tribhuvan University through the activity of MoU. This workshop was designed to enable participants from IOF to use statistical software, "R", and to conduct a hands-on approach to dealing with various statistical analyses on data using their own computers. Most participants had some experience using the software prior to this workshop. Therefore they were briefly introduced to the use of basic commands for statistical analysis, data handling and creating graphics in R. On the second day, the participants were introduced to linear regression models, basics of model selection process, and non-linear regression models. At the end of the workshop, all participants expressed interest looking forward to a similar event next year. The workshop ended successfully with a total of 22 participants in attendance. The workshop was run mainly by Dr. Narayan Prasad Gautam from Institute of Forestry Pokhara Campus with the support of Prof. Bir Bahadur Khanal Chhetri, Dean of the institute.
