Statistical Analysis with “R” Software for Forestry Research 2023 in FIPI, Vietnam

On June 7 and 8, 2023, the workshop on " Statistical Analysis with “R” Software for Forestry Research 2023" was held at MoU signing research Institute of Forest Inventory and Planning Institute (FIPI), Vietnam. This workshop was co-sponsored and organized by Risk Analysis Research Center, ISM, and FIPI, Vietnam. The workshop was designed to enable participants to use statistical software "R", and to conduct a hands-on approach to dealing with various statistical analyses on data. Roughly half of participants did not have any knowledge on the software prior to this workshop therefore, they were introduced to basic commands for statistical analysis, data handling and creating graphics in R on the first day. Although there was a gap in proficiency among the participants, they were able to help each other. On the second day, the participants continued with the graphics they learned the first day, but since many of the participants wanted to learn regression analysis, we decided to teach the basics of regression analysis. The participants used the data set to estimate the parameters of a growth function. Everyone was very enthusiastic about attending the workshop and expressed interest looking forward to future workshop. The workshop ended successfully with a total of 21 participants. It was run mainly by Dr. Nguyen Hung Dinh from FIPI, Vietnam.
