Online Workshop in Laos on February 20-21, 2022

Statistical Analysis with “R” in Laos

On February 20 and 21, 2022, the workshop on "Statistical Analysis with “R”, in Laos" was held online using Zoom meeting platform due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This workshop was co-sponsored and organized by Risk Analysis Research Center, ISM, and the Faculty of Forest Science, National University of Laos. With the aim of building capacity for forest resource management in Laos, this workshop was designed to enable participants to use statistical software, "R", and to conduct a hands-on approach to dealing with various statistical analyses on data. The participants learned about basics of the “R” software using their own computers. On the first day, the participants learned about the basic commands for statistical analysis, data handling in “R”. On the second day, the participants learned about graphics in “R”. Although it seemed that some participants had difficulty following the materials, they were able to help each other by sharing their thought, ideas and commands. All participants expressed interest looking forward to a similar event next year. The workshop ended successfully with a total of 21 participants. It was run mainly by Dr. Phongxiong Wanneng from the Faculty of Forest Science, National University of Laos.
