Workshop in Vietnam, December 13 and 14, 2016
Training on Advanced Statistical Analysis in "R" for Forest Resource Management 2016
On December 13 and 14, 2016, the "Training on Advanced Statistical Analysis in "R" for Forest Resource Management 2016" was held at MoU signing research Institute of Forest Inventory and Planning Institute (FIPI), Vietnam. This workshop was co-sponsored and organized by Risk Analysis Research Center, ISM, and FIPI, Vietnam. The workshop emulated the workshops of previous years, with the aim of developing human resources involved in the implementation of forest resources management in Vietnam. It was targeted at individuals with some experiences of R software. On the first day, the participants reviewed data handling and graphics in R. In the afternoon, they learned about single and multiple regression models. On the second day, after reviewing the materials covered during the first day, simple growth functions were introduced and the participants explored the parameters for those models using nonlinear regression models. They also learned about model selection. The workshop ended successfully with a total of 12 participants. The majority of the participants were already familiar with the software, and they were eager to learn about more advanced topics and already looking forward to the following year workshop. It was run mainly by Dr. Nguyen Hung Dinh from FIPI, Vietnam.
